Operation Blessing Volunteer Work – Senior Housing in Beaumont / Port Arthur TX
October 7th – October 16 (10 Days)
Continued Work on Senior Housing that was destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. Most homes had 2 – 6 Feet of Water in their homes plus roof leaks and then ground floor apartments.  All clean-up and gutting out of houses has been done by Operation Blessing * Samaritans Purse * The Latter Day Saints (Mormons) * Salvation Army * Red Cross and other local churches in the area. The National Guard pulled out at the start of Irma and I counted 141 Trucks leaving for Florida as we were coming into Beaumont and Port Arthur.  The amount of tear down and clean up gets done depending on the amount of volunteers that come in.

FEMA goes thru to assess the damage and then moves on. But all clean-up is done by home owners and Nonprofits like our own Dancing For The Dream Charity that teamed up with Operation Blessing and Samaritans Purse. Over 250,000 Homes were lost across Southeast Texas during this Hurricane – Houston * Rockport * Pearland * Victorville * Beaumont * Port Arthur * Vidor * Vinton * Orange – People are now living in Tent Housing as this recovery will go on until the end of the year.  Housing is given to the Volunteers in The Cathedral Church. Cots are set up Military Style and that’s where you eat and sleep for the 10 days. We hope to take 10 to 20 Volunteers with us.
